There are many reasons that persuade us into acquiring a binge eating habit. Below is a list of some of these reasons. Undoubtedly there are more. If your reason is not on the list, you may contact the coach with the reason you'd like considered for inclusion in the list.

Dulling Emotional Pain
You may be using food for numbing out undirected feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, boredom, loneliness or frustration.

Blocking Out Others
When people talk down to you or take advantage of you, you may be overeating to dull out the humiliation.

Blocking Out People Close to You
In this case your use food to numb out interpersonal conflicts.

Coping With Self Criticism
If you regularly berate yourself, you may use food as a reward for the "self discipline". The motto here is: I suffered, now my eating is justified.

Coping With Unresolved Past
If you find yourself dwelling on your past, without resolving any of the issues, you may use food to numb them out.

Compensating for Lack of Power
If you have something to prove, but are unable to do so in a social arena, you may use food to prove to yourself that you are in control.

Punishing Yourself
If you feel guilty about something, you may be using excess food to punish your body for having done something wrong.
